Basketball Victories
Posted by shonolez in Student, Uncategorized, tags: basketball, Co Curriculars, VictoryOur first game off to a good start. We played Saint Thomas Choir and crushed them, we played them later as our fourth game. At the end of the season almost everybody had scored. Our team won all of our games we had loads of fun. With a lot of practice, some ups and downs, and with a little bit of luck we won the season finale in overtime. Everyone improved all around, attitude and skill. Our team started off a bunch of hopeful 5th graders who became into champions. Half of the games we played were against 6th graders, so we had a disadvantage, but we pulled through. We played in a tournament and lost all three games, but all of which were to the toughest teams. To close up the season of wins, laughter, soda, and pizza, we scrimmaged our schools 6th grade team. It was played at Columbia College for a halftime show, the 5th grade lost off of some fast breaks, but who cares, it is all about having fun. A great season, 7 wins and 0 losses, looking forward to lacrosse season, and can’t wait till next year!

I picked up your blog from the ‘postcard project’, I can hardly imagine a school more different to mine! I love your basketball video, great facilities! I actually just had a set of adult basketball posts removed from my school’s playground! I think it would not be allowed where you are. The children move really easily with the ball. I enjoy the way we all pick up and add to the culture we grow up in.
My school is 132 years old and has 91 children, aged 3-11. The big sport here is football, the season is coming to a climax now.
I would like to find out more about teaching and learning in NYC and your blog, I hope, will be my first window.

Thanks for all the great compliments, our school is 8 years old and is great fun. Basketball is only a bit of our athletic program, we also have a lacrosse team, and also track and field. Our practice schedule has it going where we have 3 practices per week. So I guess, that explains how we move easily with the ball. Just so you know, our team is the one in white. I hope I can learn more about your school and your football season. Also, I did not catch where you are from. Keep on posting.

Your Friend Donald from Techie Kids
Hi Donald,
I played for my schools basketball team, I am part of the team playing in the video. My favorite basketball player of all time is Chauncey Billups. I love him more than anything in the world. He played for the Pistons in the prime of his career. He also helped them win a championship in the 2004-2005 season. He got the NBA finals MVP. Do you know him?
From Abie
Dear Tech-Taters,
All the kids look like there having fun. I wish I was there. I like watching basketball and I know some one who likes basketball. She is good but is not the best. Who is the basketball player in your class? I don’t really do basketball but it is kinda fun to me.
Sincerely,
Alexis
